When my friend Hans asked if I would be interested in writing a column in The Independent about the trip my answer was a resounding yes. The only thing more fun than travel is writing about it, and if people will actually read it the thrill is even greater. It also helps keep me occupied while riding, instead of talking to myself inside my helmet I am trying to organize my thoughts into articles as well as blog posts. (Except when I see goats, I still tend to squeal and then sigh in disappointment that there is no one to turn to and exclaim over cuteness with!)
So it should be a biweekly, slightly more focused, and certainly a more grammatically correct, retelling of our adventures. But this blog will still have the random and everyday experiences. Promise.

Thank you! 🙂
Hi guys! It’s been a while since I last read your blog, so I’m going to start by congratulating Sherrie, it is indeed a great article and also a great achievement to publish a column in The Independent about something you love to do! Well done, do that more often :DSecond, drive carefully, and don’t forget, if some Russians are gold-hearted people, they also have their… bad guys. So don’t take everyone for granted. Last, I want to wish you guys all the best, be responsible riders, and I hope you meet more wonderful people and see more great landscapes!I’ll be watching you :)SorinP.S. I know that 2 of the 3 bikes have a name. What’s the name of the Africa Twin? (if it has one)
Hi Sorin, it actually does. Its name is Fury. It was named by my sister and her boyfriend. But now its owned by my brother and rides the world with him… Greetings from Mongolia! Sherrie & Patrick
